Mohawk Highlights Sustainability Progress in 2023 Impact Report

On July 16, 2024, Mohawk Industries, Inc. (NYSE: MHK) released its 15th annual impact report, Surfaces with Purpose, highlighting the Company’s 2023 advancements in sustainability and showcasing global initiatives that demonstrate Mohawk’s dedication to both people and the planet.

Our products are manufactured utilizing sustainable practices that help to lower our carbon footprint, conserve resources and incorporate significant recycled content, including almost 60 billion plastic bottles during the past decade.”

Mohawk is the world’s largest flooring manufacturer, with skilled teams and modern manufacturing facilities in 19 countries. The company provides a wide range of residential and commercial products tailored to local market preferences, including a variety of sustainable options.

Key points from Mohawk’s 2023 impact report:

– Mohawk surpassed its greenhouse gas emissions intensity target in 2023, achieving a 36% reduction from its 2010 baseline. The company was acknowledged by USA Today as a leading force in the fight against climate change in both 2023 and 2024.

Mohawk recovered 44.9 million pounds of end-of-life products through recycling and repurposing last year.

In 2023, approximately 58% of Mohawk’s manufacturing waste was recovered, recycled or reused.

Mohawk’s global water withdrawal intensity improved by 42% from its 2010 baseline in 2023, with millions of gallons of wastewater reused in or eliminated from manufacturing processes contributing to the improvement.

Over 40% of Mohawk’s employees in the United States represent Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC). Recently, Mohawk was recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s top workplaces for diversity and women.

Over 10% of Mohawk’s global workforce has been with the Company for 25 years or more.

Mohawk’s 2023 global recordable incident rate has dropped approximately 10% compared to five years ago due to safety program enhancements.

In 2023, Mohawk expanded its “Culture of Care” through sustainability partnerships, including Plastic Bank®, One Tree Planted® and Rhinory®.
