DEKRA remains on course despite global economic and political crises

DEKRA is poised to enter its 100th anniversary year with strong and sustained sales growth. The world’s largest non-listed testing, inspection, and certification company surpassed €4 billion in sales for the first time in 2023 and expects further growth in 2024. Turnover has increased by around 5% in the first ten months of the year, with the core TIC (Testing, Inspections & Certification) business growing by more than 7%.

“We are optimistic that we can close 2024 with a mid-single digit increase in sales”, says Stan Zurkiewicz, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Management of DEKRA e.V. and DEKRA SE, at the company’s annual review at its Stuttgart headquarters.

DEKRA’s TIC business has shown resilience in the face of tough external conditions, such as the recession in Germany and the ongoing shortage of skilled personnel in Europe. Despite these challenges, all areas of the company have contributed to our success, with the temporary staffing segment being the only exception, experiencing a decline in sales, especially in Germany.

DEKRA CEO Zurkiewicz attributes this success to the dedication and hard work of our teams across the company, who have worked tirelessly to overcome the difficult framework conditions and drive growth in our TIC business.

„In this area, we are feeling the effects of the current economic contraction and the crisis afflicting the European automotive industry. However, we are able to offset this with more than 7 percent increase in turnover within our core business and strong demand in new focus areas.”

DEKRA has seen strong growth in the Americas (around 14%), North-West Europe (around 9%), and the Asia-Pacific region (around 9%) in the current fiscal year. The core business in Germany has also grown by around 7%. Additionally, the new strategic business fields in future mobility, sustainability, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence have contributed to this success.

Next summer, DEKRA will mark its 100th anniversary and is looking forward to maintaining its growth trajectory in 2025, despite potential geopolitical and economic challenges. The company anticipates another mid-single digit turnover growth in the anniversary year.
