The Citi Foundation has announced a new round of funding for community organizations, with $25 million in support to be distributed among 50 recipients. This initiative builds on the foundation’s longstanding investment in youth-focused programs, spanning over a decade.
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Interested community organizations are invited to participate in the 2025 Global Innovation Challenge by submitting proposals in response to the Citi Foundation’s Request for Proposals (RFP). The challenge aims to provide philanthropic support for organizations looking to pilot or scale innovative solutions to social and economic issues on a global scale.
Despite some progress, young people around the world still face significant challenges in finding employment, including skills mismatch and accessing high-quality jobs. The International Labour Organization reports that 65 million young people are currently unemployed globally. In response, this RFP aims to provide $500,000 in grant support to 50 community organizations, enabling them to develop innovative solutions for empowering low-income youth in areas such as upskilling, reskilling, entrepreneurship, and financial education.
The 2025 Global Innovation Challenge is a continuation of Citi and the Citi Foundation’s commitment to investing in youth. Over the last decade, the Citi Foundation has invested more than $300 million in programs that have supported over one million young people in expanding their skills, experience, and networks through its Pathways to Progress initiative.
Through the Pathways to Progress initiative, the Citi Foundation has been dedicated to providing opportunities for young people to grow and succeed, ultimately helping to build a stronger, more innovative global community.
At Citi, we are committed to providing banking services that support access to high-quality education and youth entrepreneurship opportunities. But it remains a persistent and urgent matter, and we know there is more work to be done – said Ed Skyler, Citi Head of Enterprise Services & Public Affairs and Chair of the Citi Foundation. – Applying the Global Innovation Challenge model to this issue represents the next step in our funding journey and our continued investment in the young people poised to build thriving and resilient communities”.
Organizations must register to apply by Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. New York Time (Eastern Time). Recipients will be announced later this year. For more details on eligibility requirements and target geographies, please visit www.citifoundation.com/rfp.
