European Cyber Report 2025: 137% more DDoS attacks than last year – what companies need to know

W ramach kampanii „Polskie produkty mleczne królują na stole” odbyła się debata, w której udział wzięli eksperci z branży mleczarskiej: dr Witold Klemarczyk z Instytutu Zdrowia Matki i Dziecka, Tomasz Cieślik, prezes Podlaskiego Związku Hodowców Bydła i Producentów Mleka, oraz Arkadiusz Pisarek, prezes Krajowego Związku Spółdzielni Mleczarskich Zw. Rew. Debatę poprowadziła dziennikarka dr Anna Murzyn.

According to the most recent Link11 European Cyber Report, there has been a significant surge in cyberattacks, which are becoming more frequent, advanced, and sophisticated. As a result, companies need to adjust their cybersecurity measures or face potential severe financial and reputational repercussions.

Summary of Results:

  • DDoS attacks on the Link11 network have increased by 137%.
  • The largest attack reached a new peak of 1.4 Tbps.
  • Two-thirds of attacks lasted just 10 to 60 seconds, indicating faster strikes.
  • Defense against multi-vector tactics requires precise countermeasures, complicating the situation.

Urgent Action Needed from Companies

According to the 2025 Allianz Risk Barometer, cyber threats are on the rise due to digital transformation, with cybercriminals employing advanced tactics such as botnets. A recent attack lasting four days utilized Layer 3/4 and Layer 7 techniques to target infrastructure and web applications.

Traditional defenses were overwhelmed by over 120 million requests and one million WAF logs. Attackers employed strategic tactics, flooding Layer 3/4 networks with massive data streams, causing Layer 7 APIs/apps to struggle with complex requests, and testing security response times with dynamic waves of attacks.

It is essential for companies to implement modern security measures to protect against DDoS attacks.

AI-driven solutions have become increasingly important, including:

  • AI-based attack detection for early threat recognition.
  • Bot management to block automated threats.
  • Adaptive WAF systems that respond in real time.

Companies need to adopt a holistic security strategy that combines advanced DDoS mitigation, continuous monitoring, and adaptive protection mechanisms.

„The increasing number of DDoS attacks shows that cybercriminals continue to rely on this proven method. However, the shortened attack time does not mean that the threat is decreasing – on the contrary: companies need to react faster and further optimize their defense mechanisms,” said Jens-Philipp Jung, CEO of Link11.
