Scalable Neutral Atom Quantum Computer: Planqc Wins 29 Million Euro Contract From DLR

The 100-qubit system will be installed at the DLR Innovation Center in Ulm. Planqc is driving the quantum computing revolution with the development of hardware and software that will enable the implementation of quantum algorithms to solve real-world problems. The company’s ambitious vision is to become a worldwide leader in quantum computing technology.

In addition to the DLR project, planqc recently has started a three-year research and development project with the Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics and the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. This project is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The goal of the project is to develop a scalable quantum computing platform based on digital neutral atom quantum computing.

Planqc has developed a unique quantum-stable laser system that is used to control neutral atom qubits and provide a unique user-friendly interface for the development and deployment of quantum algorithms. The system is also augmented with powerful software development tools that allow for the efficient design, optimization, and deployment of complex quantum algorithms.

The system is capable of processing complex algorithms in a fraction of the time that is required by classical computers. The system is also designed to be energy-efficient and is expected to be more cost-effective than existing solutions.

The installation of the 100-qubit system at the DLR Innovation Center in Ulm marks the beginning of a new era in quantum computing and a major milestone for planqc. This is the first in a series of sales that will bring the power of quantum computing to the European market.

“We are very proud that DLR relies on planqc as the technology leader in the field of neutral atoms to build a quantum computer. This order is an important milestone in our commercialization and growth strategy, which envisages expanding into other key industries and opening up global markets as a next step” – says Alexander Glätzle, CEO and Co-Founder of planqc.
